My original ASG group organised a weekend sewing retreat at The Tops an hour south of Sydney and it was fabulous to spend an entire weekend sewing - setting up on Friday night & starting to sew then, sewing from before 9am to 11pm on Saturday taking meal breaks, and sewing til 2.30pm on Sunday when I had a natural stop with my project and packing ( Read more... )

Yesterday I went to my sewing guild group and mended another laundry-bag (all my bra's get put in suitably sized bags for the washing machine) and after about a year got the binding replaced on my apron.  It came free with my Eurail pass (cough) years ago.  The bias binding had become tatty & broken but the fabric is still really good. I based my reticule on one that was for sale on www.vintagetextiles.com a couple of years ago. Though that one had embroidery on the sides.  I had intended to pipe the edges of the front & back, gather the side and sew the front & back onto the gathered strip.  Except that I forgot this on Saturday when I launched myself at the making of it. She who remains nameless had better be sitting down, cos last night I finished the briefs for my 2 piece togs.  Yessss, they're big nanna nicker style cos that's what I wanted.  It's for swimming in the ocean / pool and I want britches I don't gotta worry about being hauled at by waves.
